Happy New Year!

We've had wonderful holidays with our families and I hope that you have, too! Now that New Year's Day is here, let's all resolve to be better, moral people and to consider one another's feelings with each action we take!

Below are some bows I made for a friend's nieces who were taking a trip to Disney World. These bows were a hit!

Happy New Year!

Happy Holidays!

Well, it's been a little while since I posted... and I had told myself that I would do better over the past few months.

The purpose of this blog is to wish everyone a merry and happy time with family and friends over the upcoming holidays of Christmas and New Years. I hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

My craft shows for the season have come to an end. It's kind of bitter sweet... I want to thank you all for coming out to see me and supporting my ribbon addiction!

I have begun work on Valentine's Day bows and am in the creative stage of St. Patrick's Day bows (yes, already!), and have recently listed some Easter bows, so if you are interested, now is the time! You can contact me about sales and any special orders through my Etsy shop.

Maybe my next post will be sooner than later! Have a great night!

July Hairbow Sales for Prissy Sissy Bows

This post shows the hairbows that I sold during the month of July through my Prissy Sissy Bows Etsy shop.

This first item is my Newborn Headband that Allows for Interchangeable Hairbows. This headband measures approximately 13.5 inches round and allows you to change out the hairbows on it. As long as the bows have a clippie on them, you can attach them to this band.

These next bows are basic newborn hairbows. They can also be used for older girls to hold back bangs.

As always, most all items seen on this blog can be duplicated. If interested in purchasing items, please contact me through my website at http://PrissySissyBows.etsy.com/.

Craft Show Applications...

I have finally done it. I have finally gotten my first of three craft show applications in the mail. The hardest part was putting together the non-existant craft show booth so that I could take a picture to submit with the applications. Well, several hundred dollars and drops of sweat later, this is what I have created.

I have potentially two more applications to go. It is absolutely amazing at how much money can be spent just on entry fees alone. We are really hoping that this financial and time investment will pay off. Maybe it will pay off big time and I can quit my day job!

If you are reading this, please post comments about any pointers and tips that a newbie may need! Any positive comments will be greatly appreciated.

Memorial Day is....

Observing holidays as actual days of remembrance or reflection was never anything that we did growing up. Holidays were seen as a day off for spending time with family. But is there a deeper meaning for the holidays that we have? Since I didn't really know why I was granted a day off from my day job yesterday, I thought that I would do just a bit of research....

"Memorial Day (May 30), or Decoration Day, began in 1868 when members of the Grand Army of the Republic heeded the request of their commander, General John A. Logan, to decorate the graves of their fallen compatriots. It has since become the day on which the United States honors the dead of all its wars and is observed as a legal holiday in most states. National services are held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, Virginia. In 2000 President Bill Clinton asked the nation to endorse a humanitarian organization's addition of a moment of silence to the holiday, designating 3 P.M. local time for a minute of quiet reflection on the meaning of America's war dead." (Taken from http://www.answers.com/topic/memorial-day)

Living in Augusta, GA, near Fort Gordon, we often see soldiers and members of the military out and around. I work with wives of soldiers at my real job. Although I've never said "thank you," I do realize and greatly appreciate the sacrifice that they and their families make for me. I learned last week that my friend's husband will be leaving for Iraq soon. He will be leaving his wife and two children to serve for his country. Thank you to all who see it as his or her duty to serve our country.

May we all pray and take a moment of silence everyday to remember those who make sacrifices for us. May God bless you.

April Hairbow Sales Part 1

April has been a wonderful month for hairbows! I have been contacted several times for custom orders, with several of them following through with their requests. I have sold several listings besides custom orders from my Etsy Shop. Thank you to everyone who purchased my hairbows this month!

The first bow I sold this month was to a local lady. She found me through Craigslist. She purchased a large pink satin and black sheer princess hairbow. She emailed after we met to exchange goods and told me that her two-year-old was running around telling her daddy that she was a princess now... now that she had her hairbow!
She called me later to see if I could make something for her baby that matched the other hairbow that I had made for her. I have worked on another bow so maybe this will also lead to another sale.

Next I sold my Frog Princess Hairbow Holder to a lady in California. This hairbow holder has a wooden green frog wearing lipstick and a gold crown attached to 1 yd prepared ribbons that allow you to hang your bows. My hairbow holders are excellent solutions for storage of hairbows. Hanging you bows prevents them from wrinkling and crushing, which can make a bow look horrible.

My next sale was to a lady in Texas. She had requested custom hairbows through Alchemy on www.Etsy.com. You can read all about my Alchemy experience in my last blog entry. These bows were for a 9-11 year old softball team. I received an email from them and they were excited about the bows!

So, these are just some of the sales I have made this month. I will post part 2 to this story at the beginning of May so that you can see the other sales and custom orders I have made this month. I want to again thank all of my customers for supporting me and my Etsy Shop! Thank you!

So, here is what I've been so excited and secretive about...

Etsy has this thing they call Alchemy. I've heard that they had it a some time back and that they'd taken it away. To everyone's delight, they've recently released Alchemy again. Alchemy provides a forum in which those looking for items can submit a request for the specific items they want. Sellers search the requests and then make bids on the orders in hopes of earning a sale.

Well, 4ofakind submitted a request for 11 hairbows for her granddaughter's softball team. I submitted by bid, bit my nails, and patiently waited.... and, later that day, 4ofakind picked my bid out of 17 bids total! I had won over 4ofakid! I had landed my first Alchemy sale! I was so excited (as if you couldn't tell!)

I immediately started looking for the right colors of ribbon and coordinating payment and barrettes with 4ofakind. Even though I had to order one of the ribbon colors from online, I was still able to finish the bows in record time and ship them out this morning. 4ofakind should get them early next week and I can't wait! I really hope that she loves them as much as I do!

So, I now think that Alchemy is even more wonderful than I did before. Your completed bid/ sale from Alchemy shows in your sold items and the description of your bid is the listing itself.

When bidding for an Alchemy request, you have to be very thorough. As you can see, I tried to cover all of the basics. What you don't see are the terms and conditions which only the buyer and seller sees. In the terms and conditions, I described what I required for payment and when. When I would be able to ship and any other important notes that could affect the outcome of the bows.

As you work your order, Alchemy allows and asks you to upload pictures of your progress. The pictures in this blog article have two of the last pictures I uploaded to my completed Alchemy sale. In the first one you can see the 11 finished bows. In the second and third pictures, you can see the stack of the bow which is approximately 2 inches and the bow tails which are approximately 7 inches.

This order was a lot of fun for me. It provided great experience and great exposure. I think that Alchemy and 4ofakind's granddaughter's softball team rocks! Thank you 4ofakind for this opportunity!

Ribbons, Ribbons, Ribbons!

So, my ribbon came in yesterday and I was able to sit down last night and almost finish the project I was working on. I am very excited about that! I will share the secret of this project with you once I'm finished and have shipped it out!

Now I want to share one of my newest listings with you. These are ribbons that are cut at approximately 36 inches long with the ends heat sealed to prevent fraying. The ends are cut and sealed just so delicately to ensure that the ribbons look professional.

For the colors below, you may buy as many 1 yd cuts that you need. Just contact me through my Prissy Sissy Bows Etsy shop and I'll make a custom order for you. Also, if you need a special color, contact me; I can probably get that color for you.

I cannot wait for the ribbon I've ordered to get here!

I've ordered some ribbon to help me finish out my surprise... (see earlier posts.) I ordered it online on Saturday and it was shipped out on Monday, so it should be here soon, but I'm getting just a little impatient. I think I'm just so excited and it seems like it is just taking forever!

So, hurry up already! I just can't wait any longer!

We've Been Doing Some Gardening....

So, my husband and I have been discussing our flowers. We've decided on a few of them but really know nothing about flowers and gardening. So, a few weekends ago, we planted azaleas along the front of our house. They are very pretty and help our yard out a lot, but much is still needed. We have plans to plant more in several flower beds around the house but the much needed rain has prevented us so far.

If anyone reading this can provide support for gardening, we'd greatly appreciate it. Just leave us a comment.

And now for the Prissy Sissy Bows plug....
Here is my Tulip Hairbow. This bow is very cute and would be adorable on your little girl!

March Sales!

I was again fortunate to have a successful month in the hairbow biz. Through my Etsy Shop, Prissy Sissy Bows, I sold two listings and then sold three hairbows to my friend at work:

These bows were shipped to California. There is some little girl out there living on the wild side in these bows. These are my M2MG Leopard Print Pigtail Hairbows.

These bows were purchased by my friend and co-worker at my "real" job. Today is her last day at work as her husband has taken a job and will be moving his family to Colorado soon. This is my Happy Bunny Face Hairbow.

She also purchased three of these bows. She kept one for her daughter and then I think that she gave the other two to some little girlies at her church. This is my Jesus Loves Me Hairbow.

So, I have been selling bows for just under 4 months now and things are going well. I could not be a success without my customers! Thank you to all who have bought my bows for your precious babes.

Hairbow Storage Solutions

Hairbow storage is a dilemma for most families of little girls. Many just have their hairbows stored in a basket or drawer. This works fine for a while, but when the hairbows are continually crushed they become misshapen, wrinkled, and, well, ugly. Who wants to wear ugly hairbows?

Prissy Sissy Bows has a practical hairbow storage solution. Hairbow holders are perfect for hairbow storage because they hold numerous hairbows, prevent them from being crushed or wrinkled, and allow for easier viewing and display which, essentially, saves the family time. Hairbow holders can be hung in closets, bathrooms, doorknobs, walls... the possibilities are endless.

Hairbow holders are made from long cuts of ribbon adhered specifically to hold hairbows and clips. All you do is clip your bows to the ribbon tails and, voila, you've got storage and display solutions. Hairbow holders can be made to match the decor of a room, just by altering the ribbon colors and embellishment. If an embellishment is not desired, the simple ribbon bow holders are adorable, too.

In this post, I am featuring my Toad Princess Hairbow Holder. The pictures below show the finished product and it's purpose. Enjoy!
