Take a Stroll Down Memory Lane

One year ago, my husband and I were visiting Washington, DC.  It was such a lovely trip!  Because we were there on Lincoln's birthday and during the week after, there were lots of extra activities going on around town.  We were able to be one of the first to view the inside of Ford's Theatre after their Grand Re-Opening.  It was very interesting to piece together the facts and relive the night that Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth.  You could just image his wife and friends chatting, waiting, and worrying inside the Petersen Boarding House where Lincoln was taken after being shot.  This was just one highlight of our trip!

We were very blessed to have excellent weather while we were there.  It is such a major contrast to what they are having there now!  Compare 65 degree days to, as my friend who lives outside of DC put it, "foots and foots of snow!"  Wow, am I ever thankful for beautiful weather!  I can image that snow -- 'foots and foots of snow' -- could ruin a trip!  Especially when you live in a place that rarely gets snow and so you wouldn't even know where to buy snow boots, much less own a pair!

If you are debating on visiting DC or somewhere else, I say that you should go visit our nation's capital.  It will be a truly wonderful and very entertaining - yet very educational - family vacation!
